  1. I got my bicycle motor in the mail Friday afternoon from GasBike.net, but since we are in the middle of moving, I wasn't able to open the box until last night. Everything looks good, except I am afraid that my bicycle may not allow me to put a motor on it. The "V" is very narrow, and I think the engine may not fit. Also, the down tube is too big, so I will have to "modify" it a little bit. Otherwise, it looks like a quality product. I can't wait to get back to work on it tonight. I hope to be riding it to work tomorrow. I'll keep you updated.

  2. I got the engine in place tonight. I had some difficulty following the directions that I got from GasBike.net, but I went to King's Motor Bikes and their directions were much clearer. I had to mount the carb on sideways (hope it'll work that way) to get it to fit. I got the chain and rear sprocket installed too. That was a pain in the rear to get done. Fortunately I already owned a chain breaker to shorten the chain, or I would have had to buy one. I'm almost done.

  3. I'm hoping to have it done by the end of the night. The only thing I am concerned about is that I read in the manual from Kings Motor Bikes that you should "Adjust engine in the bike frame so carburetor sets level as possible." Well, the carb sits level, on it's side... Something tells me that's not going to work. This is one of those times I wish I new more about 2 cycles. Any advice?

This is what it looks like so far...

  4. This has been way more challenging than I expected it to be. I think that has mostly been caused by my bike though. I've got it all together, but I didn't have any lights or any gasoline, so I wasn't able to test it out tonight. Tomorrow morning I'll go grab some gas and crank her up and see if I can blow the head gasket before noon! Woo Hoo!

  5. I'm done! It runs, and I rode it to work today. Man, it goes fast. It took me a few tries to get used to how it starts. I have to get the chain guard to fit, because I got grease all over my pant leg. I also have to get a bigger, cushier seat, because the vibrations almost killed me!

  6. Well, I rode it to work the other day, and on the way home I noticed it was running really loud. I looked down at one point and saw a foot long flame coming out of the tailpipe. I quickly shut of the engine, got off the bike, and saw that the bottom of the muffler had fallen off! So, I'm gonna have to call GasBike and see if I can get a replacement! How funny!
